Many of us struggle with the idea that you need to “count your calories” when you are planning your diet because we all know that when we eat fewer calories, we feel less sluggish and energetic throughout the day. However, many of us also know that eating smaller portions with smaller amounts of food, actually makes us feel hungry more often. The solution is actually to eat a hearty, healthy snack. There is nothing like that feeling of comfort food as you settle into bed after a hard day at work. Here are some healthy snacks that will help you slim down and stay energized throughout the day.

Fruit drinks and juices:

Many fruit drinks and juices can be enjoyed throughout the day. One of my favorites is the organic apple cider juice that tastes so great. If you don’t like the taste of apples, there are many other fruits and vegetables that are equally as delicious and healthy. Serve yourself a nice glass of carrot juice or enjoy a glass of orange juice with a little honey.

Peanut Butter is another delicious snack idea. There are several variations on this theme, depending on how much peanut butter you want to put into the drink. If you would prefer to make a healthier version, substitute half of the oil with natural butter instead of the vegetable oil that is typically used. You can also choose to cut back on the sugar and add a few berries to boost the flavor. Adding some canned cherries or strawberries also completes this healthy snack.

Chocolate Egg Shake:

Everyone likes chocolate, so this idea should not surprise anyone. Create a delicious chocolate egg shake for breakfast. You will want to start your day with a good protein shake, then you can add in the chocolate syrup. For an added boost of flavor, add in a couple of tablespoons of natural peppermint extract. You will want to eat this delicious shake for about one hour before you begin your day.

Did you know that you can create your own candy? This delicious recipe calls for crushed candy, instant pudding mix, and a little bit of whipping cream. Start out by putting all of your crushed candy into the bottom of a saucepan. Next, add in your pudding mix and whip to combine. Now add in your instant pudding and turn the heat on to bring the mixture to a boil. Let the mixture boil for approximately five minutes, stirring occasionally until the candy begins to soften.

Are dates a sweet date? This delicious concoction includes fresh strawberries, fresh orange juice, honey, vanilla ice cream, and date syrup. Combine all of your ingredients and gently blend until smooth. Add in your favorite fruits and enjoy this moderately sweet dates dessert.

Have a sweet tooth? You might be a big fan of sweet things, such as: sugar-free gum, dried fruits, and chocolate. If you’re looking for something a little sweeter, consider an iced tea with ginger ale. This recipe uses ginger ale, but it can be replaced with any iced tea and ice cream flavor.

It doesn’t matter what your favorite desserts are, you can create delicious versions of them with different ingredients. The best part about creating your own candy is that it’s completely healthy. When you eat dates, you are indirectly sending a ton of unhealthy sugar into your body. By eating natural, whole foods that are tasty and nutritious, you will be helping your body stay healthy, too!

Did you know that you can create a candy bar for any special occasion?

For example, if your birthday is on Valentine’s Day, why not create a chocolate version of a traditional old-fashioned donut? You could use white chocolate and drizzle it with some pink and red sprinkles. If you want something more decadent, you could substitute dark chocolate and add praline or caramel syrups to give it just the right amount of sweet and salty goodness.

If you’re planning a dinner party for you and your date, you can easily create your very own dainty candies for your guests. In addition to using your imagination, you can also add a few healthy ingredients to your creations. Create soft, chewy chocolate candies using organic almonds. For a healthier alternative, you could drizzle fresh nutmeg over your sweet creations for a healthy, yet appealing treat.

The best part about creating your own candy at home is that you can take your creations beyond the ordinary table setting. Instead of serving truffles, serve brownies or cookies. Alternately, you could serve chocolate-covered strawberries instead of the traditional chocolate strawberries. The possibilities are endless. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, have fun with it. After all, it’s all about the details!
