You may extend your already existing Global talent visa if you wish to stay in the UK and eventually go for ILR and British citizenship.
The requirements are pretty straightforward, you must have applied for endorsement and the organisation still retains you and secondly, you have enough evidence to meet all the requirements.
What is required and how long can you stay?
The application to extend your visa must be made before your current Global talent visa expires. In case your partner and children intend to extend their visa they can’t do it before your visa expires, they will need to make a separate application for the same.
You must be able to send evidence of your earning capacity in the UK to the Home Office. For example, payslips, etc.
Your stay will be extended to further 5 years if your extension application is approved and you will be able to extend your stay further as many times as required.
Staying longer- apply for ILR UK
You can apply for ILR UK once you have lived for 5 years and are willing to settle permanently in the UK.
You have the right to stay, work and earn as much as you want if you are eligible.
And as a long term resident, you can seek British citizenship.
Applying to extend your visa
If you are from any of the countries such as, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, France, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia,, Malta, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, or Turkey, your application fee for extending your stay will be lessened by £55. However, your partner and children will have to pay the full fee as intended.
The actual fee for extending your Global talent visa is £608, for both applying from within or outside the UK.
Your partner and children will also pay the same amount. Additionally, there is a health surcharge fee and £19.20 to have your biometrics.
Proving your credentials
Highly critical that you prove your credentials as a part of your application to extend your Global talent visa.
Proving your identity is heavily dependent on your passport and the type of visa you hold.
You can either prove it through biometric where your photograph and fingerprints will be taken to verify your identity. Or, you can login to ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app and scan your documents.
If you are applying from outside then you will need to visit the nearest visa application centre to complete your application. You can apply from any country if you have permission to stay in that country for at least six months.
Time taken for your application
Usually, the time taken depends on the complexity of your application. Ideally, it takes 8 weeks by the Home Office to announce a decision on your application but could take longer as well.
You may be eligible for priority services, but you will be told prior.
You are also able to switch our visa from one to another as long as you qualify and you must do it before your current visa expires.
It is best to seek guidance from immigration solicitors to help you clarify your doubts while making an application. We recommend A Y & J Solicitors for their bespoke immigration solicitation and advice.
