The Mystic Aquarium is a 5.5 acre aquatic park that was founded in 1996. It features more than 1,000 species of fish and invertebrates from all over the world, and also has an aviary with more than 100 birds. There are also two large pools, the Mystic River and the Salmon Pool, as well as a small wading pool for kids. The aquarium has an 8-foot-deep dive well that allows visitors to explore the aquatic life up close. The admission fee is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and free for children under age 3.

One way to get an up-close view of the salmon is to kayak. Kayaks are easy to transport and allow for plenty of exploration on your own or with friends. And if you’re feeling adventurous, consider taking a SUP rafting journey down the river. Ramps in designated areas make it easy to climb aboard; simply tie your boat onto one of them when you reach your destination!
