Hidden Modes that You Can Use in Your Windows PC

Windows computers include a lot of extra modes that users don’t know about. These modes enable you to be extra productive and ensure better work functionality. To use any of the hidden modes, you have to make sure that you have signed in on your Windows PC as an administrator. We have cracked all the hidden modes that give access to all the panels from one folder, and they include many other features. So, to help you make the best use out of these modes, we have listed all of them below.

God Mode

The most useful hidden mode is the God Mode that is also known as Window’s Master Control Panel. It enables you to have access to all the essential panels using just one folder. This mode was created as a part of shortcuts, and it’s very easy to use. Setting God Mode is easy, and you can follow these steps to get started:

  1. After opening your computer, give a right-click on your desktop screen and create a new folder.
  2. Name this folder as “GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}”
  3. Press the enter key to save this name, and the folder will automatically convert into a control panel icon.
  4. You will find all your commands at one place in this folder.

Safe Mode

This mode is a troubleshooting feature that will automatically disable any unnecessary driver and program that occurs in the startup process. You can solve any error in the system from the root of it without interference from any application. You can use this mode for an advanced startup, system configuration, and tapping.

For Advanced Startup

  1. In the search bar, type ‘advanced start-up’ and select the Best Match.
  2. Click on Restart Now under the Advanced Start-Up section.
  3. In the recovery mode, select Troubleshoot.
  4. Click on Advanced Options. Then click on Start-up Settings and opt for Restart.
  5. Once the reboot process is initiated, choose any required option.

For system configuration

  1. Type ‘msconfig’ on the search menu bar and choose Best Match.
  2. Tap on the Boot tab and check the Boot Options.
  3. Check mark the Safe Boot option and Minimal written under it. The system will be forced into Safe Mode. Then restart your computer.

For Tapping

  1. Give a right-click on the start menu and select  Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the User Account Control Dialogue, click on Yes option.
  3. Enter “bcdedit/set{default}bootmenupolicy legacy” command. Your task will be completed.

Dark Mode

Want to save your eyes from a bright screen? Use this default mode to turn every element, option, and page into eye-pleasing darkness. Follow these steps to initiate the changes:

  1. Open Settings and go to Personalization.
  2. Select Colour, and a set of options will open up under the Choose Your Colour tab.
  3. Choose Dark or Custom to use any different customized mode.

Battery Saver Mode

Laptops users will certainly need this mode to prevent battery drainage. This mode will disable any task that consumes a lot of battery, including the decrease in the brightness level. To initiate this mode, you have to go to your device’s Settings app. Then click on Systems and go to Battery Saver. Switch on the toggle under the Battery Saver section. If the battery saver is off, your computer will automatically switch the mode on when the battery level drops to 20% or low.

Compatibility Mode

If you’re using any older version of Windows, this mode will help you achieve backward compatibility for your system. To initiate this mode,

  1. Give a right-click on the program’s file and select Properties.
  2. Click on the Compatibility tab and customize your options. You’ll be set to use your device.

Focus Assist Mode

If you don’t want to be distracted by the notifications, you can use this mode to suppress them. Use these steps to configure is:

  1. Go to Settings and click on System.
  2. Select Focus Assist.
  3. Choose either is the options from: Off, Priority Only, and Alarms only.
  4. To tweak the settings, click on Customize your Priority List.

Flight/ Aeroplane Mode

This mode is similar to what you have on your smartphone. You can use this mode to turn off all types of wireless networks. It can also help you save a lot of battery consumption on your device while you work offline. Enable this mode by going to the Settings.

Then choose Network & Internet and click on the Airplane Mode. Another shortcut to all these steps would be to click on the icon given in the bottom right corner of the taskbar or just press the Win+A key together.

S Mode

Use this mode to prevent the browser from downloading unnecessary apps. After initiating this mode, you’ll be able to download apps from Microsoft Store only. A lot of Windows 10 devices come with the S Mode automatically turned on. In case you want to switch off this mode, you’ll have to follow these steps to enable it:

  1. Go to Settings and click on Update & Security.
  2. Then select Activation.
  3. Under the Switch To Windows 10 Home/Pro section, click on Go to the Store.
  4. A new page labeled as Switch Out of S Mode will open up. Here, click on Get and confirm to exit out of S Mode.

Tablet Mode

If you’re using Windows 10 on your tablet or touch screen laptop, you can use this mode to make your interfacing experience better. Make these changes in the settings to use this mode:

  1. On the Settings page, go to System.
  2. Select Tablet Mode. Customize the options as per your preferences.

Game Mode

To improve your system’s performance for gaming, you can use this mode. This will provide you stability in your gaming experience. You’ll have to tweak sine options from the Settings page.

  1. Choose Gaming from the Settings page
  2. Switch on the toggle for Game Mode. Windows will automatically optimize itself for gaming purposes.
