Pacman 30th Anniversary: Celebrate 3D Art Show

Looking for a way to celebrate Pacman 30th anniversary ? The National Design Museum of Los Angeles will create a 3D art show featuring some of the original arcade games!

History of Pacman

For those who grew up in the 80s, Pac-Man was a household name. The little yellow dot-eater with a voracious appetite quickly became one of the most popular arcade games. But how did this iconic video game come to be?

Japanese game designer Toru Iwatani created Pac-Man. Iwatani had previously worked on successful arcade games like Astroids and Donkey Kong. Still, he wanted to create a game that would appeal to a broader audience, including women and children. Thus, Pac-Man was born.

The original name for the game was Puck Man, inspired by the Japanese word for mouth, “pakku.” However, it was soon changed to Pac-Man due to fears that vandals would change the P to an F on arcade cabinets.

Pac-Man made its debut in Japan in 1980 and quickly became a sensation. It arrived in North America in 1981 and took the world by storm. Over the years, there have been many different iterations of Pac-Man, including Ms. Pac-Man, Baby Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, and more.

To this day, Pac-Man remains one of the most beloved video game characters. In 2010, he was inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame!

How the game originated

Pac-Man is one of the most classic and well-known video games. The game was first released in Japan in 1980 and quickly became a global phenomenon. Pac-Man is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and to celebrate it, there is a unique art show that is a must-see for any fan of the game.
