Transferring Made Easy at University of Phoenix

There are numerous advantages to transferring from a community college to a four-year undergraduate program. Compared to those who have only an associate degree, job seekers with a bachelor’s degree have a 1.5 percent lower unemployment rate, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Additionally, those with bachelor’s degrees earn more than their counterparts with associate degrees: $1,305 median weekly earnings for bachelor degree holders compared to $938 for those with only an associate degree.
Starting with an associate degree may be a helpful financial step for students. This can allow them to take prerequisites while also getting a better sense of the college experience and giving them time to choose a course of study. Provided they can transfer the credits they have earned to a four-year program, these students can get a jumpstart on their bachelor’s degree program at the university level.
For many students, this transitional point, or “transfer gap,” can be the most daunting part of the process. In order to transfer from a community college to a four-year program, students must investigate options, produce required paperwork and confirm that their credits will transfer. Fortunately, students interested in degree programs at University of Phoenix will find that the transfer experience has been streamlined, meaning they can get maximum credit for their eligible community college coursework without complex processes.

How Transferring Works at University of Phoenix
University of Phoenix has made it easy for students who have attended the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) colleges to transfer credits and get a major head start on a bachelor’s degree program through their 3+1 Transfer Pathway Program. Through this program, students and employees of SCCCD schools can take general course requirements at their SCCCD community college for three years and then transfer up to 87 credits to University of Phoenix for their final year. This means they typically need just 33 additional credits, or about 14 months, to complete a bachelor’s degree program with the University in popular topics including business, health management, information technology and nursing.
The University makes the process even easier for students who want to transfer by providing dedicated staff who help prospective transfer students with academic advising. The University staff can even request transcripts from prior institutions on behalf of the student. University of Phoenix evaluators also review prior credit for students, ensuring that they receive all eligible credit transfers.
“University of Phoenix believes strongly that transfer is a valuable path to degree completion,” said John Woods, Ph.D., University of Phoenix provost. “We have a continued focus on helping students to get the most out of their transfer credits, to help them save as much time and money as possible, and to quickly leverage their degrees and enhance their career path. During National Student Transfer Week, we celebrate our transfer students and the faculty and staff who help them maximize their credit earning potential and make them feel welcome.”
